Titus Bramble Bio
Send To Friend
Bramble joined Wigan Athletic in the summer of 2007 after his contract with Newcastle United had expired.
The England Under-21 international had become a figure of fun in the Premier League due to the number of defensive errors made in his five years at St James' Park.
Bramble is actually a half-decent defender, but he suffers from a lack of concentration and that all too often leads to at least one error, and a goalscoring opportunity for the opposition, in every game.
Bramble is a centre half who came through the ranks at Ipswich Town. The defender's impressive form at the start of the 2000/01 season led to a call up into the England Under-21 squad and he helped Ipswich to a place in the UEFA Cup as they made a startling return to the Premiership.
However, as Ipswich's form slumped at the start of the next campaign, so did that of Bramble. He had a less than impressive 2001/02 as Ipswich went from Premiership challengers one season to relegation the next.
It was always clear that Town would have to sell some of their stars, and in July 2002 Bramble moved to Champions League qualifiers Newcastle United.
Bramble signed for an undisclosed fee which was believed to be in the region of £5million and penned a five-year contract.
He made his Newcastle debut against Zeljeznicar in a Champions League qualifier, but far too often in his early Magpies career was he culpable at the back.
Many saw Bramble as a weak link throughout his five-year stay and he really didn't improve, forcing Sam Allardyce to release him.
Bramble headed for the JJB Stadium with Portsmouth, Fulham, Birmingham City and Charlton Athletic all said to have been chasing his signature.
The powerful defender has yet to win over the fans at his new club, also has been a useful addition to the squad.
