Ricardo Gardner Bio Send To Friend

Described by former manager Sam Allardyce as his best signing, while at Bolton versatile Jamaican international Gardner is a firm favourite at the Reebok.

Capable of playing either on the left hand side of either defence or midfield Gardner is gifted with natural athleticism, speed and technical ability on the ball and as such proves to be handful for defenders or attackers depending on the role he is deployed in.

Gardner burst onto the footballing map at the 1998 World Cup finals with Jamaica, and it was his performances for the Reggae Boyz that lead Wanderers to pay Harbour View £1million to secure his services ahead of the 1998/99 season.

Ahead of the 2008/09 season Gardner had made over 280 appearances for Bolton, a figure which would have been higher but for the fact that the player has suffered from knee ligament injuries on a number of occasions in his time at Bolton.

A further knee injury restricted Gardner's first appearance in the 2006/07 season; it was not until December 2006 that he returned, eventually making 16 appearances in a somewhat truncated season.

Despite injury problems Gardner has proved to be a player of considerable resilience and durability, returning from injury as fit and strong as ever he was throughout his tenure at the club.
