Kevin Davies Bio
Send To Friend
Tremendous in the air and at holding up the ball Davies has proved to be the ideal to Bolton's style of play since his arrival at the club
A consistent performer for Bolton since signing in 2003, Davies has bagged a steady, if unspectacular, rate of goals for the club since then, though his unselfish play is perhaps more vital than his strike rate.
Davies started his career with Chesterfield where he turned in some stirring displays during the club's impressive run to the semi-finals of the FA Cup in 1997. His performances earned him a move to Southampton for £750,000, where he was a revelation scoring nine goals in 20 Premiership stars.
Blackburn then signed him for £7.5million, where the big price tag proved to be too much of a burden. Davies scored just one Premiership goal in his only season at the club.
The striker returned to The Dell in the summer of 1999 - but he failed to recapture the natural finishing that marked him out as such a promising talent during his first spell at the club.
Unable to make an impact in the first team, at the end of the 2002/3 season found himself released by the club.
He impressed during a pre-season trial spell with Bolton Wanderers to earn a contract in July 2003. So impressed were Bolton with Davies'all-round contribution, not to mention his nine Premiership goals, he was awarded a new contract for 2004/05.
Further impressive performances at the start of that season earned another fresh deal, this time to tie him to the Reebok until the summer of 2007, a deal subsequently extended until 2010.
