Republic of Ireland under-21 international fullback Tony Kane was part of the Blackburn Rovers academy side that won the 2004/05 national title.
A regular member of the Rovers' reserve side, Kane was handed a full squad number in March 2006. However, despite being on the fringes of the Rovers first team for, Kane has yet to make the breakthrough.
A signed a new one-year deal in February 2008 which will secure his future until the end of the 2008/09 season.
During the 2006/07 season Kane spent a short time on loan with Stockport and a successful five month spell between January and May 2007 with Belgian club Cercle Brugge with who he made 11 starts.
Although born in Northern Ireland and having represented them at under-18 and under-19 levels Kane opted to represent the Republic at international level.
He was loaned to Stockport County in October 2008 where he played three matches.
And in February 2009 he moved to Carlisle United on a temporary basis.
