Glen Little Bio Send To Friend

Glen Little joined Portsmouth in the summer of 2008 from Reading after the Royals lost their battle against relegation in 2007/08.

Wimbledon-born Little was given his break in the game by Crystal Palace, but it was at Turf Moor that he has enjoyed success in the Football League after being picked up from Irish side Glentoran in 1995.

Considered the best footballer to play in the Irish League in the 1990s, Little scored a memorable goal to win the 1996 Irish Cup, but moved to Burnley in 1996.

He quickly established himself as a regular in the Burnley side and made a big contribution to the promotion success in 2001 and scored their final goal of the campaign.

Up in the First Division, Little was very much the reason Burnley were able to challenge at the top end of the table, with his ten goals from the centre of the park proving invaluable.

He was loaned out to Reading in April 2003 as the Berkshire club looked to reach the Premiership.

Several Premiership clubs had been tracking the experienced midfield star, and he finally earned his chance at the big time in September 2003 when Bolton Wanderers took him on loan.

After making only four appearances for the Trotters, Little was snapped up on permanent deal by Reading in 2004.

Known for his running at defenders and crossing ability he proved to be a vital member of the Reading's successful promotion to the Premiership in the 2005/06 season.

However, he slipped down the pecking order in Reading's first season in the top flight, but remained an important squad player.

Not helped by injury troubles, Little's place was taken by the impressive Seol Ki-Hyeon, but manager Steve Coppell eventually managed to accommodate both wide-men when striker Dave Kitson got injured.

In November 2006, Little signed a one year extension to his contract with Reading, keeping him at the Madejski Stadium until 2008.

Ahead of his move to Pompey he had made 96 appearance for Reading, scoring nine goals.

He managed just eight appearances for Pompey before returning to Reading on loan in March 2009.
