Victor Anichebe Bio Send To Friend

This Nigerian-born striker is a product of the Everton academy and quickly progressed through the ranks, making his debut for the reserves as 15-year-old

Following on from an impressive pre-season the pacey and powerful forward established himself as a regular in the matchday squad for the 2006/07 season.

He made his senior debut the previous campaign, as a substitute against Chelsea in the FA Cup, but started three successive home games and scored three times in the following season.

At the end of the season he was rewarded with a new, long-term four-year contract.

Anichebe continued his progression during the 2007/08 season and having scored on the opening day of the Premier League campaign, he went on to score four times in Europe.

As an exciting young talent both Nigeria, the country of his birth, and England, the country he moved to as a one-year-old, were keen to secure his services. He was called up by both countries at youth international level but withdrew from both squads.

In March 2007 Anichebe was called up to the senior Nigerian squad but did not feature in the match. A year later, he made his first appearance for Nigeria, scoring for the Super Eagles Olympic side in a World Cup qualifier against South Africa.
