Ritchie Jones Bio Send To Friend

Young midfielder Jones broke into the Manchester United first team in 2005/06.

He was part of the United reserve side which won four trophies in 2004/05.

The player was also a member of the England Under-19 squad which reached the final of the European Championships in July 2005 before losing out to France.

He was handed his debut in October in a Carling Cup tie against Barnet at Old Trafford, which United won 4-1, and he played the whole match.

Jones won plaudits for his performance.

The player also came off the bench in the later rounds against West Bromwich Albion and Birmingham City.

Royal Antwerp, United's feeder club, reported that they had signed him on loan when the transfer window re-opened in January 2006. But he was still at United for the FA Cup Third Round tie at Burton Albion.

Jones played the whole game and almost snatched an injury time winner as United disappointingly drew 0-0.

He moved to the Belgian club following the tie. But he was there for a matter of days as injuries to United's first team midfielder meant Jones was recalled as cover at Old Trafford.

Jones, calm on the ball with good vision, looks to be a fine prospect for Sir Alex Ferguson.
