Fabrice Muamba Bio
Send To Friend
Relegation from the Premier League saw Muamba move for the second time in a year after he was sold to Bolton by Birmingham for a fee of £5m.
Muamba joined Birmingham City from Arsenal in the summer of 2007 on a three-year deal for a fee which could have risen to £4million. He was one of the few stars for Blues during a torrid season in which he made 38 appearances.
The tough-tackling central midfielder became a firm favourite amongst City fans after he joined the club on a season-long loan from Arsenal ahead of the 2006/07 season.
Muamba was signed for Arsenal as a youth in the summer of 2004 and in his first season earned a reputation as one of the most consistent players in the Under-17 side, managed by former Arsenal defender Steve Bould.
Muamba, a tireless runner, is an England youth international who moved to England in 1999 when his family fled the civil war in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Nicknamed 'Fabulous', he was spotted playing school football by Gunners scouts.
