Burnley signed goalkeeper Penny from Peruvian side Coronel Bolognesi in the summer of 2008, acting as back-up to Brian Jensen.

He made his debut in the opening game of the 2008-09 season, a 4-1 loss to Sheffield Wednesday, his only appearance of that Championship campaign.
