Kenny Miller Bio
Send To Friend
Only the third player since the war to have played for both sides of the Old Firm, Miller was once viewed as the most exciting prospect in Scottish football.
A striker with plenty of pace and fine finishing ability, he signed for Rangers again in June 2008 - after initially getting his big break with the club in 2000 - and is an important part of the Ibrox club's attack.
He began his career in 1996 with Hibernian and a loan spell at Stenhousemuir put him on the map. In his four years at Hibs, he was top scorer in the 1999-00 season and he picked up the Scottish Young Player of the Year crown in 2000.
He signed for Rangers at a cost of £2m in June 2000, but was sent on on a three-month loan to Wolverhampton Wanderers in September 2001. Wolves secured him on a permanent transfer at a cost of £3m after he impressed and helped the club to promotion after a stunning second half of the season in 2002-03.
Injury saw him suffer and, in 2004, he handed in a transfer request over lack of first team opportunities. But he stayed under the new management of Glenn Hoddle and only left the club for Celtic when his contract ran out in 2006.
A former Rangers player, Miller was brave to join the Hoops, but only lasted a season at Parkhead before he moved to Derby County. With the newly promoted Rams looking likely candidates for relegation, the striker expressed a desire to move just over 6 months after joining the club and rejoined Rangers in June 2008.
He was not a regular in the side, but still netted 10 goals in 2008-09 to help the side to a league and cup double.
Miller has remained a constant presence in the Scotland team under the management of Berti Vogts, Walter Smith, Alex McLeish and George Burley, often playing as part of a two-man attack or as a lone striker.
