McCann joined Burnley from Irish youth side Home Farm in 2005 and have proved to be an astute acquisition.

A dependable midfield performer with an eye for goal, McCann was one of the mainstays of the club's promotion to the Premier League in 2008-09, making 58 appearances in all competitions. That led to him being named the club's Young Player of the Year for a third successive season.

His Burnley debut came in a 4-0 win over Coventry City in August 2005 with his first goal coming a month later.

McCann is an Ireland youth international who also passed 150 appearances for Burnley in 2008-09.
