Andy Dawson Bio
Send To Friend
Left-back Dawson is one of four Hull City players to have been with the club from their days in the basement division to become one of a handful of players to represent one club in all four divisions.
He began his career with Nottingham Forest but played just one League Cup game before joining Scunthorpe United on loan, a move which became permanent for a fee of £70,000 in March 1999. The defender spent four years at Glanford Park, playing 212 games, before moving to Hull at the end of his contract in 2003.
Dawson was a vital player for the Tigers as they gained back-to-back promotions in 2004 and 2005 as runners-up in Leagues Two and One.
The defender was named in the PFA's League Two Team of the Season for 2003/04.
He enjoyed a superb season in the Championship in 2006/07, named Hull's Player of the Year both by the club and the supporters.
Dawson made his 150th League appearance for City in the 2007/08 promotion campaign.
A free-kick specialist who also possesses a fine distance shot from open play, he is the elder brother of Michael Dawson.
