Kris Commons Bio Send To Friend

Having qualified through his Scottish grandparents, Commons made his international debut against Northern Ireland on 20 August, 2008, after some impressive form for Derby.

He began his career at Stoke City, but a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament limited his progress in his first few years.

The Potters let him join Nottingham Forest in a £300k deal in July 2004 and he impressed, especially in the FA Cup where he netted a hat-trick against Yeading. He suffered from injuries - notably in 2006-07 - but became a key player for Forest and helped them to promotion back into the second tier as runners up to Swansea in 2008.

However, he caused controversy when he rejected a new contract at the end of the season in order to move to Forest's fierce rivals Derby County, which he duly did in June.

The goalscoring midfielder showed his quality with some great performances for the Rams and won his first callup to the Scotland side in August, going on to cement his place in the squad.
