Bobby Zamora Bio Send To Friend

In July 2008 Bobby Zamora and team mate John Pantsil were signed by Fulham for a joint fee of £6.3 million from West Ham United.

Zamora began his career as a trainee with Bristol Rovers in 1999, though he made only six substitute appearances for the club before he turned a successful loan move to Brighton & Hove Albion into a permanent move in summer 2000.

The striker made a name for himself as a prolific marksman at Brighton, scoring 83 goals in 136 appearances. In July 2003 Tottenham Hotspur won the race for his signature, offering £1.5million for Zamora and offering the player a chance to prove himself in the Premier League.

Zamora marked his first game in a Spurs shirt with two goals against Oxford United in a pre-season friendly. But it was all downhill from there as Zamora struggled to settle in the top flight, his solitary Spurs goal coming in a League Cup victory over West Ham United.

As the transfer window closed in January 2004, Zamora was offloaded in a part exchange deal between Spurs and Championship club West Ham which saw Jermain Defoe leave Upton Park and replace Zamora at White Hart Lane.

Life in East London started well as Zamora scored the equaliser in a 2-1 victory at Bradford City. But he only scored for more goals over the remainder of the season, which saw West Ham miss out on promotion in the play-offs.

An injury plagued 2004/05 season saw a poor return of just seven goals in the normal Championship season. However, he redeemed himself in the play-offs. Against Ipswich Town in the semi-finals he bagged West Ham's second in a 2-2 draw, and he also bagged both goals in the return leg as they won 2-0 at Portman Road. But the best was saved for the final in Cardiff, Zamora scoring the only goal as West Ham returned to the Premier League.

Those performances kick-started his Upton Park career and in the 2005/06 season, he made 42 league and cup appearances and scored ten goal as West Ham finished in the top half of the Premier League and reached the FA Cup final.

He started the 2006/07 season in incredible form, netting five times in his first four games. Although his form deteriorated as West Ham began to slide, he popped up with four goals in four games in March to help the Hammers' bid to stay in the league.

However, the 2007/08 season was less productive, with only 14 appearances and one goal as he fell out of favour with manager Alan Curbishley and it became clear that in a move was on the cards.

He joined Fulham having scored 40 goals for West Ham and making 152 appearances.
