Marc Edworthy Bio Send To Friend

Pacy defender Edworthy joined Derby County from Norwich City as a free agent in the summer of 2005 and proved to be a stable influence during a troublesome season for the Rams.

He remained a key player for the 2006/07 campaign and won promotion to the Premiership for the fourth time in his career, this time with Billy Davies' Derby.

Edworthy began his professional career with Plymouth Argyle in 1991 - his speed is explained by the fact that he was a junior sprint champion in his home county of Devon - before earning a £350,000 move to Crystal Palace in the summer of 1995.

The defender spent three seasons as a first team regular at Selhurst Park, playing a total of 146 games before Coventry City moved in with an offer of £1.2million in August 1998.

He struggled to impress at Highfield Road, starting only 62 League games in four years before being handed a free transfer, which saw him move to Wolverhampton Wanderers just after the start of the 2002/03 campaign.

Again, he did not enjoy the best of times at Molineux which led to another free move in the summer of 2003.

He failed to win a contract after trials with both Reading and Stoke City, leaving him on the football scrapheap. But he earned a chance with Norwich City on the eve of the 2003/04 season.

He made his Canaries debut in a 2-2 draw at Bradford City and soon became a vital member of the side which stormed to the First Division title. The player missed only three games of the League campaign.

He remained their first choice right-back, despite the addition of Danish international defender Thomas Helveg, during the ultimately doomed Premiership campaign of 2004/05.

Edworthy's contract expired the same summer and he moved to Derby county on a Bosman.

An attack-minded, right-sided defender, he can cover most positions across the back four and is also able to play in midfield if needed.
