Ricardo Fuller Bio Send To Friend

This physically imposing striker signed for Stoke City in August 2006 after spending two seasons on the south coast with Portsmouth and Southampton.

The Jamaican international originally made a name for himself at Preston and after netting 31 goals in 63 appearances earned a £1million move to Premier League Portsmouth in August 2004.

The forward had been set to move to the south coast club a month earlier for £1.7million, but Pompey were advised to scrap the transfer after a medical highlighted a knee problem.

The deal eventually went through but injury did indeed hamper Fuller's impact at Fratton Park. However, Pompey boss Harry Redknapp saw quality in the striker and when 'Arry moved to local rivals Southampton, Fuller followed for a fee of £90,000 in the summer of 2005.

Despite scoring early on in his Saints career Fuller's history as player at arch-rivals Portsmouth singled him out for abuse from the fans and he was sent on loan to Ipswich in February 2006.

In three games with the Tractor Boys, he scored two goals, collected two yellow cards and one red card for a hand gesture towards the crowd against his former club Crystal Palace.

He was sent back to Southampton in March and despite scoring six goals in the final six games of the season he was transferred to Stoke by Saints boss George Burley in August 2006.

The powerful and pacy international made a solid start to his career at the Britannia Stadium, scoring ten goals in 25 appearances, and weighed in with 15 goals during Stoke's 2007/08 promotion season, including a hat-trick against West Brom, as the Potters secured a place in the Premier League.
