Sergio Aguero Bio Send To Friend

The youngest player ever to debut in the Argentine First Division, 'Kun' Aguero caught the eye playing for Independiente before moving to Spain and starring for Atlético Madrid.

The pint-sized forward has, naturally, been compared to Diego Maradona because of his diminutive stature, but the striker has a closer link to the Argentine legend as he has a child with Maradona's daughter Giannina.

Breaking the record established by Diego Maradona in 1976 for the youngest appearance in his division (15 years and 35 days), Aguero spent three years in Argentina and impressed for his national youth team.

Picking up the 2005 FIFA U-20 World Cup in the Netherlands, Aguero would also reclaim the trophy in 2007 (winning the Golden Boot and the Golden Ball awards), but that was after his move to Atlético Madrid.

A stunning coup for the Spanish side in May 2006, the transfer was believed to have costed in the region of €20m - a new club transfer record - and he was hailed as a future replacement for Fernando Torres who would leave a year later to join Liverpool.

He made his senior debut for Argentina in a friendly with Brazil soon after and he immediately settled in Spain, scoring six goals in his first season. In 2007-08 he was third top scorer in La Liga behind Dani Guiza and Luis Fabiano with 19 goals and was named the second best player in the league.

As a member of the Argentine squad for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Aguero scored two goals in the semi-finals against Brazil and collected the Gold medal, before returning to star in the 2008-09 La Liga season - bagging 16 goals.

Forming a devastating partnership with Diego Forlan, also a former Independiente striker, Aguero has made himself one of the top strikers in the division and much more is expected from the talented Argentine in the future.
