Sebastian Larsson Bio Send To Friend

Larsson joined Birmingham City in August 2006 on an initial season-long loan, but after a stellar few months in the Blues side the deal was made permanent in January 2007.

At ease playing centrally, or on the left of midfield, Larsson is also comfortable filling in a right-back and is regarded as cultured passer of the ball and a dead-ball specialist.

After making his first inroads into the Arsenal side 2004-05, the midfielder became a regular feature of the squad by the 2005-06 term enjoying more first team action, including his Premiership debut against West Ham United, largely due to the club's injury problems but he had been impressing at reserve team level; where he had been handed the captain's armband.

He joined the Gunners in the summer of 2004 at the age of 18 after being spotted playing for his country. At the time he was on the books of IFK Eskiltuna. The player then appeared on the bench for the first time in a competitive game for the Champions League trip to Panathinaikos in October.

The former Sweden Under-21 international featured just three times in 2004-05, but the following season he enjoyed much more first team football and proved himself to a fine prospect.

With a sparkling array of talent at Arsenal, Larsson decided his chances of breaking into the Gunners' first team were slim, hence the call to make his St Andrews move permanent.

Larsson was relegated with the club, despite scoring some impressive goals, but became a key component of the squad. Playing nearly all of the Blues' games, he was an important driving force in their promotion winning season of 2008-09.
