Paul McShane Bio Send To Friend

This former Manchester United youngster rejoined Hull City from Sunderland in August 2009 after enjoying a successful loan spell in the first half of the 2008-09 campaign.

Though prone to the odd error, McShane is seen as a generally dependable defender who is stong in the tackle with good leadership qualities.

McShane joined Man United from St Joseph's Boys in the summer of 2002, ahead of 18 other clubs, and was a member of the FA Youth Cup winning side of 2003.

His professional debut came while on loan at Walsall in League One, against Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough, but he suffered in ignominy of scoring an own goal, although he did score late consolation goal at the right end.

He joined Championship side West Brom in August 2006 and after establishing himself with 42 appearances for the club McShane tasted Premier League football for the first time with Sunderland. He moved to the Stadium of Light in a £2.5million deal after just a season at the Hawthorns.

The Republic of Ireland international never really settled at Sunderland, leading to a move to Hull in August 2009. Though he was recalled by the Black Cats in January 2009 the move would later become permanent.

McShane played just 25 games for Sunderland.
