Ben Alnwick Bio Send To Friend

The promising young keeper joined Tottenham Hotspur in January 2007 from Sunderland, where he progressed through the youth ranks.

He enjoyed two loan spells in the 2007-08 season, making four appearances for Luton Town in late 2007 and eight times for Leicester City in early 2008.

He made his professional debut in April 2005 in Sunderland's 2-1 home win over Leicester City. And he went on to play the final three matches of the season, all victorious, with the Black Cats already promoted to the Premiership.

He hit the headlines in 2006-07 when his private life was subject to scrutiny in a national newspaper over a tape of him and team-mates engaging in an orgy.

Just two days after the January transfer window had opened, Alnwick joined Tottenham Hotspur for £900,000 in a deal that could rise to £1.3m and saw Márton Fülöp going the other way for £500,000.

He was almost immediately loaned to League One side Luton Town on a three-month deal and, on his return, was sent out again to Leicester City until the end of the season.

The following season, in October 2008, Alnwick joined League One side Carlisle on an initial one month loan deal, but was recalled by Tottenham after a series of gaffes by Heurelho Gomes to fight for the #1 jersey.

He was loaned to Norwich City for the first half of 2009-10.
