Manchester City snapped up Garrido from Real Sociedad in August 2007 for a fee in the region of £1.5million.
The Spanish defender had spent his entire career in his native Basque country with Sociedad before moving to Eastlands.
He was a regular for the San Sebastian side before they were relegated from Spain's Primera Liga at the end of 2006/07.
The Spain Under-21 international made his debut in City's Premier League opener to the 2007/08 season at West Ham.
The attack-minded defender started the season in the starting XI but lost his place to Michael Ball just before Christmas.
