Steven Davis Bio Send To Friend

Davis was viewed as one of the best young talents in the Premier League when he joined Rangers in January 2008. And he has shown his full potential in Scotland.

A Northern Irishman, he came through Villa's youth ranks, was a member of the team which won the FA Youth Cup in 2002 and soon became a regular in the Villa side, becoming a favourite among the fans and winning rave reviews in the 2004-05 season.

He won his first call up to the Northern Ireland squad in February 2005 against Canada and by October he had become a regular for club and country and was continuing to impress in the Premiership.

In 2005-06, he scored 8 goals in 45 appearances and he was named Villa's Young Player of the Year, The Fans Player of the Year and Player of the Year for the season; but, under Martin O'Neill however, Davis became less influential and he made only 17 starts in the 2006-07 season.

Rumours began to circulate about his future, and with the chance to play under Lawrie Sanchez, who had described him as 'another Frank Lampard', Davis moved to Fulham in July 2007 for a fee of around £4m.

He was a regular in the side until Sanchez's departure and was signed on a six-month loan deal by Rangers in January 2008. He picked up a Scottish League Cup winner's medal and impressed enough to make his move from Fulham permanent in August in a deal worth £3m, signing a four-year contract.

An influential part of the Rangers midfield, Davis helped the side win the double in 2008-09 and, despite being linked with a move back to the Premier League, is viewed as a key player for the club.
