Simon Elliott Bio
Send To Friend
Fulham signed Elliott on a free transfer in January 2006 after his contract with MLS side Columbus Crew came to an end.
Elliott spent seven years in the MLS after beginning his professional career in the A-League (now USL First Division) with the Boston Bulldogs in 1999.
But it didn't take the Stanford University product long to move to America's top flight, as he relocated to the Los Angeles Galaxy in time to make 23 appearances that season.
The midfielder, a New Zealand international, helped Los Angeles Galaxy to its first league championship title in 2002.
He also reached three MLS Cup Finals with LA Galaxy in 1999 and 2000.
The player moved to Columbus Crew in 2004 and spent two seasons with the club.
Elliott, who had amassed over 50 caps for his country when moving to the Premiership, agreed a two-and-a-half-year deal with the Cottagers.
But his debut was not one to remember as Fulham crashed out of the FA Cup with a 2-1 home defeat to Leyton Orient. The League Two side's opener was deflected in off Elliott.
He struggled to make the break into the first-team and spent much of the 2006/07 season in the reserves, or on the bench.
