Claude Davis Bio Send To Friend

Derby agreed a £3million deal with Sheffield United to sign centre-back Claude Davis in July 2007.

The towering centre didn't have much of a chance to prove himself at the Blades since joining from Preston in 2006.

A good reader of the game, and with a guarateed aerial ability that his height brings, Davis first signed for Preston North End from Portmore United, initially on loan but then permanently in March 2004.

During 2004/05 he started 27 matches for Preston and provided excellent competition for the current centre-backs Chris Lucketti and Youl Mawene.

Contributing to 24 clean sheets in 2005/06, Davis made his name at Preston and was named both the Player's Player and fans Player of the Season.

He signed for Sheffield United in June 2006 for a fee of £2.5 million, with up to £500,000 to follow based on appearances, but didn't play a major role in the Blades defence after picking up a knee injury in pre-season.

Davis was re-united with former Preston boss Bill Davies at Derby in 2007.
