Richard Kingson Bio Send To Friend

Wigan signed Ghana international goalkeeper Richard Kingson from Birmingham City after the Midlands club's relegation from the Premier League in 2007/08.

Kingson is a naturalised citizen of Turkey after spending most of his career in the country and the Blues had snapped him up from Turkish club Antalyaspor in July 2007 signing a two-year deal with an option for a further two years.

However, having been branded "a complete waste of space" by Birmingham owner David Sullivan, Kingson chose to rejoin his former manager, Steve Bruce, at the JJB.

Kingson has spent time with six different clubs in the Turkish league and also went on loan to Hammarby IF in 2007.

Kingson, the brother of Hearts of Midlothian midfielder Laryea Kingston, has a different spelling of his surname due to an irregularity on his identity documents.

The keeper came to international attention after turning in some excellent displays with Ghana at the 2006 World Cup in Germany, but has failed to nail down a first-team place at any of the clubs he has joined in recent years.
