David Marshall Bio
Send To Friend
A product of Celtic's youth academy, Marshall established himself as first-choice 'keeper at Cardiff and has been called up as backup to Craig Gordon for the Scotland squad.
He began his career at Parkhead and excelled in Celtic's reserve team before making the breakthrough as a 19-year-old. Highly-rated, his career stuttered under Gordon Strachan - although he won the SPL title in 2004 - and he was consigned to the bench after the signing of Artur Boruc, before being sent on loan to Norwich.
An ankle injury limited his participation, but he impressed enough to seal a £1m move to the club in July 2007.
When the Canaries were relegated, he signed for Championship side Cardiff City for a fee of around £500,000 and he made the #1 spot his own.
Having begun his international career with two caps in 2004, Marshall stated in May 2009 that he aimed to reignite his career for the national team and won his third cap in a 4-0 World Cup qualifying defeat to Norway in August.
