A central defender capable of playing in several other positions, Barnett joined the Baggies from the finishing school of Luton Town in the summer of 2007.

Luton's troubles saw him part of a firesale of talent and he joined Albion in a deal worth £2.5m with the rest dependent on appearances.

He signed a deal to stay at Albion until 2011 and played a role in significant role in the promotion campaign of 2007/8.
