Ukraine striker Andriy Voronin joined Liverpool on a free transfer from Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen in July 2007.
He been based in Germany since joining Borussia Monchengladbach as a teenager in 1995, going on to wear the colours of Mainz and Cologne prior to moving to Leverkusen in the summer of 2004. He cut his footballing teeth at Chernomorets Odessa in his homeland.
Voronin, who represented his country in the 2006 World Cup along side Andriy Shevchenko, left the BayArena with a record of 21 goals in 71 league games.
Following a decent pre-season the ponytailed striker made his Liverpool debut as a substitute against Aston Villa in August, 2007. Four days later he scored his first goal for the Reds against Toulouse in a Champions League qualifier.
An ankle injury in January 2008 limited the strikers impact at Anfield, but in truth he had been struggling to make the starting eleven on a regular basis prior to being sidelined. He scored six goals in an injury-hit first season on Merseyside.
