Craig Fagan Bio
Send To Friend
Fagan returned to Hull City permanently in the summer of 2008 after a horror transfer to Derby County.
The striker had moved to Derby from the Tigers in January 2007 for £750,000 but he failed to make an impact, scoring just one League goal before returning to the KC Stadium on loan in March 2008 to help them win a place in the Premier League.
Fagan began his career at Birmingham City and was handed his professional debut in October 2002 as a substitute in a Worthington Cup victory at Leyton Orient.
The forward came through the club's youth system to make his bow as a 19-year-old and earned his Premier League bow as a sub in a 2-0 defeat at Southampton two months later before being loaned to Second Division promotion hopefuls Bristol City in January 2003.
He was loaned out again at the start of the 2003/04 season, to Colchester United where he scored six goals in 42 games and earned a permanent move in March 2004
The powerful Fagan was snapped up by then Hull boss Peter Taylor after another impressive start to the season and he played a key role as the Tigers clinched promotion from League 1 to the Championship.
The pacy forward, who can play wide on the right or as a central striker, joined Derby in January 2007 and scored his first goal for the club at Leicester City on Good Friday. And that was his only ever League goal as he became a casualty of Paul Jewell's Derby reshuffle in March 2008.
Though he failed to get on the scoresheet his freshness from the bench was important in the promotion push and earned a permanent return - with Hull returning the £750,000 Derby had paid.
Fagan is far from prolific - he highest League return for a season is nine in 2003/04 with Colchester - but his workrate, strength and determination make him a very useful team player.
