Rafael Bio
Send To Friend
Rafael signed for Manchester United along with his twin brother Fabio in January 2008.
The Brazilian is a right-back who is also able to play as a right-sided midfielder and was part of his country's squad at the World Under-17 Championships in 2007.
He began his career at Fluminense as a youth where he was initally spotted by United's scouting network, but having been brought to the club Sir Alex Ferguson was hugely impressed with his performance against Peterborough in a pre-season friendly in August 2008.
That led to Rafael making his debut for the Red Devils at the start of the 2008-09 season, replacing fellow young star Frazier Cambpell for the final 10 minutes, and he went on to impress greatly in the absence of Gary Neville - he was also shortlisted as one of the nominees for the PFA Young Player of the Year award.
An attacking full-back who loves to get forward and join in with the attack, Rafael has been tipped to be a part of the United back-line for many years to come.
