Neil Danns Bio Send To Friend

Liverpool-born Danns joined Birmingham City from Colchester United in June 2006 for and initial fee of £500,000 rising to £850,000.

With three important goals in 11 starts, and 18 more appearances as a sub, Danns played a part in Birmingham's promotion push but could find himself struggling in the Premiership.

Danns enjoyed an impressive spell at Colchester, turning more than a few heads with 28 goals from 87 appearances in two years at Layer Road.

He joined Blackburn Rovers as a trainee and progressed through the ranks at Ewood Park to be welcomed into the first team squad at the start of the 2002/03 season.

He made his debut for the club, from the start, in the 1-1 draw with CSKA Sofia in the UEFA Cup in September 2002. The player's Premiership debut came as a sub against Leeds United a week later.

Danns captained the club's youth side to the final of the FA Youth Cup in the 2000/01 term.

He featured six times that season, but was loaned out to Second Division side Blackpool for a month at the start of the 2003/04 term - where he scored twice in 15 appearances and received two red cards.

On his return to Ewood Park he found himself in the first team squad, and replaced Jonathan Douglas for the final 15 minutes of the 4-3 home defeat at Bolton Wanderers.

The hard-working midfielder was loaned out again in mid-March 2004, to Hartlepool United, where he played 11 games. Hartlepool missed out on promotion after losing to Bristol City in the play-off semi-finals.

He was loaned to Colchester United in September 2004 before earning a permanent deal with the Essex club.
