Philip Ifil Bio Send To Friend

The sale of Stephen Carr just days before the beginning of the 2004/05 season handed Ifil a shock debut for Tottenham Hotspur.

The young right-back was thrust into the starting line-up for the Premiership opener against Liverpool and performed well in the 1-1 draw.

Ifil, an England youth international up to Under-20, was only 17-years-old when handed his bow by Spurs.

He kept his place for the following match against Newcastle but then dropped out of the first team picture, making only one further appearance, in the League Cup, in 2004/05.

The defender was loaned to Millwall in September 2005 for three months to build up his first team experience.

He made his debut in a final 1-0 win at Wolverhampton Wanderers - the Lions' first success of the campaign - and made a total of 14 appearances.

Ifil returned to the New Den for a second loan spell in mid-January 2006.

Back at the Lane for 2006/7, he spent much of his time warming the bench, making just two starts.
