Julius Aghahowa Bio Send To Friend

Wigan Athletic signed this Nigerian international in January 2007 from Shakhtar Donetsk for an undisclosed fee, thought to be £3.5million.

The striker began his career with club side Police Machines before moving on to Bendel Insurance FC. His next port of call seemed to be Danish lower division team Herning Fremad until he produced a contract with Tunisian champions Esperance which predated the deal with the Scandinavians.

He spent one season in Tunisia before moving to the Ukraine to play for Shakhtar in 2000, where he gained extensive Champions League experience.

Aghahowa made his Wigan debut in a 1-0 victory at home to Portsmouth but he failed to get on the scoresheet in the remainder of the season.
