Ricardo Quaresma Bio
Send To Friend
Quaresma arrived in the Premier League in February 2009 as Chelsea gazumped Tottenham Hotspur to sign the wide player on loan from Inter Milan.
He began his career at Sporting Lisbon where he carved out a reputation as a hugely skillful attacking player, able to unlock defences and particularly suited to a free role.
Barcelona signed the player for £4m in 2003 but it was an unsuccessful one-year stint under Frank Rijkaard as he started just 10 matches and ultimately refused to play for the Dutchman again.
His next port of call would be back in Portugal with FC Porto, who also paid £4m though Deco also moved to the Nou Camp.
Quaresma spent four years at Porto, scoring 24 goals in 114 games, before moving to Serie A with Internazionale on transfer deadline day in September 2008 under Jose Mourinho.
But he again failed to shine, starting only seven Serie A matches, before Mourinho told him he could leave in the mid-season transfer window. He made a total of 10 starts with another nine games from the bench for Inter prior to his loan move to the Premier League.
At Chelsea he was reunited with former Portugal coach Luiz Felipe Scolari, who had seen him as nothing more than a bit-part player at Euro 2008.
