Johan Elmander Bio Send To Friend

Bolton paid a record £11m for the Swedish international in the summer of 2008 after Euro 2008.

A glut of goals for his French club Toulouse had made this pacy, single-minded striker hot property, with Juventus and a number of other Premier League clubs said to be monitoring him closely.

His compatriot, the Manchester City manager Sven Goran Eriksson, was apparently an admirer before he left English football.

Elmander was hailed a boy wonder when he first burst upon the Swedish scene with Orgryte, but in subseqent spells at Feyenord Rotterdam, Djurgardens and NAC Breda he only occasionally lived up the publicity. Only when joining Brondby did his career pick up.

He starred for Toulouse during 2007/8 despite a season in which they struggled against relegation.
