Brede Hangeland Bio
Send To Friend
Brede Hangeland joined Fulham for £2.5 million in January 2008 from FC Copenhagen, reuniting with former manager Roy Hodgson who made the US-born Norwegian club captain whilst in charge at FK Viking.
Tall and commanding, with natural aerial ability Hangeland formed a decent partnership with Araron Hughes at the heart of the Fulham defence and can lay claim to having been instrumental in the club avoiding relegation in the 2007/08 season.
Hangeland, who has made over 40 appearances for Norway, began his career with FK Vidar before moving to FK Viking where he made 114 appearances winning the Norwegian Cup.
A move to Denmark came in January 2006, where he gained Champions League experience and was a member of the team which upset Manchester United 1-0 in the 2006/07 tournament's group phase.
In the summer of 2007 the player was linked several Premier League clubs, including Liverpool and Manchester City, but remained with Copenhagen until Fulham and former boss Hodgson came knocking.
