Ivan Campo Bio Send To Friend

Campo signed for Bolton Wanderers from Real Madrid on transfer deadline day in August 2002 on an initial season-long loan deal.

The former Alaves, Real Valladolid, Valencia and Real Mallorca player's early days as a central defender at Bolton were dogged by errors as he struggled to adapt to the pace of the Premiership.

However, by the season's end the 2000 Champions League winner with Real Madrid had gotten to grips with English game and proved to be a vital part of the Wanderers side that avoided relegation.

Bolton secured Campo's services on a three-year deal which was subsequently extend by a further two years ahead of the 2006/07 after some superb displays in his new defensive midfield role.

A solid all-round defender, Campo is strong, good in the air and despite his advancing years remains quick enough to do a more the competent job in the face-paced world of the Premiership midfield.
