Although smaller than some of his team-mates Steer's energy from left-back has proved to be an important part of the Reserve side's success.

The Luton-born defender made 12 appearances for Neil Banfield's second-string last term, and a further 11 for the Under-18s, including both FA Youth Cup games.

Good at bursting forward from the defence, Steer has been with the club since age 13 and signed professional terms in 2007.

He joined Gillingham on loan in January 2009.
