Germany international Hinkel signed for Celtic in the summer of 2008 for £1.9m.
The defender was on the youth books of TSV Leutenbach and VfB Stuttgart, making his professional debut with Stuttgart. He spent six years with the Bundesliga club before moving to FC Sevilla in 2006 for around £3.2m.
The right-back was unable to claim a regular place in La Liga, playing second fiddle to the excellent Daniel Alves. But he still picked up medals for winning the UEFA Cup, UEFA Super Cup, Spanish Cup and Spanish Super Cup.
Hinkel moved to Celtic in January 2008 and immediately picked up a Scottish championship medal.
He made his international debut with Germany in 2003 against Serbia and Montenegro.
