Olivier Kapo Bio Send To Friend

Kapo followed former Birmingham manager Steve Bruce to Wigan in the summer of 2008 for a reported fee of around £3.5million.

One of the most impressive performers in the Blues' relegated side of 2007/08, Kapo attracted a lot of attention from top flight clubs but chose a reunion with Bruce as his way back into the Premier League.

Kapo joined Auxerre as a 13-year-old and progressed through the club's academy system before making his first team debut aged 18 in March 1999.

After becoming a regular Kapo featured in the Champions League with Auxerre and helped his club lift the French Cup in 2003.

Kapo moved to Juventus in the summer of 2004, but he started just two Serie A games in his first season in Italy and the 2005/06 season saw him spend the majority of the year on loan back in Ligue 1 with Monaco where he proved his worth.

A second-season on loan followed in 2006/07 this time in Spain with Levante where he further showed his ability to get goals from midfield.

A tricky, talented, left-footed attacking midfielder Kapo was on the radar of several Premiership clubs, including Newcastle, after Juventus made it known they were willing release the Ivory Coast-born player, which they eventually did to Birmingham in the summer of 2007.

Having agreed a three-year contract with a two year option at St Andrews, the Frenchman enjoyed a great first season in England, although the club were relegated and Kapo decided to follow his former manager to the JJB in the summer of 2008.

If he can continue his goal-getting form from the centre of the park, Kapo could turn out to be something of a transfer coup for Wigan.
