Andreas Granqvist Profile
This towering young centre-back is likely to provide cover for Mellberg, Majstrovic and Hansson this summer. Physically powerful, totally committed and a good reader of the game, Granqvist provides Sweden with a fine back-up to call upon.
In January 2007, he left mother club Helsingborg for Wigan Athletic in the Premier League, but he proved unable to hold down a regular first-team place and was loaned back to his old club this spring. The sort of unsung hero any manager likes to have in his ranks.
Did you know: Before joining Wigan, he had been linked with the likes of Bayern Munich, PSV Eindhoven, Liverpool and Celtic.
