Tevez made the long trip to the Monumental Stadium for a midweek friendly with Spain and was on target in the 4-1 win. But it would appear the 26-year-old is finding it tough to juggle club and country commitments.

The Manchester City striker has previously suggested he could quit football completely in the coming seasons.

"I'm considering my future. I'm tired, I'm 26 and I'm getting on," Tevez is quoted as saying in The Sun. "Physically I'm struggling. I can't handle getting kicked and getting up and having to fight for another 90 minutes. I'm all beaten up. The knocks I get in games, like against Spain, start to hurt more and more.

"If it was up to me I wouldn't be with the national team - I am because of the support I get from the fans, and from my family.

"I still want to play and be part of the set up but I don't know if I'll make it to the 2014 World Cup. I won't go into the tournament better prepared than the last one, so I think it will be difficult for me to make it to 2014.

"I won't quit Argentina today or tomorrow. For now I'll carry on. But to play for the national team you must be 100% focused. And you have to give everything.

"I'm not blaming anyone, it's to do with me - it's to do with fitness. You can't play for the team at 60%. If that happens, you have to step aside and let others come in."
