Copa Sudamericana ties in the balance

September 8, 2010

A goal in the third minute of added time gave Chilean side Union San Felipe a 1-1 draw at Guarani in the first leg of their Copa Sudamericana's second-round tie.

Luis Angel Vildozo scored a penalty in the 93rd minute after Elvis Marecos had fouled Esteban Carvajal in the box. Guarani had gone ahead in the 55th minute through Angel Ortiz, who took advantage of a defensive mistake from the visitors to steal the ball and score.

Union San Felipe -playing in their first international competition since 1972- will host the second leg next week.

In Colombia, Atletico Huila and Bolivia's San Jose also drew 1-1 in the opening game of one other second-round tie with both goals coming from penalties.

San Jose went ahead in the 28th minute after Nicolas Ayr fouled Oscar Diaz in the box with Regis de Souza converting the spot kick. In the second half, Gonzalo Martinez equalised after Huila's Carlos Carbonero was fouled.
