Ronaldinho, 30, had been heavily linked with a move back to Brazil with Flamengo this summer, but Milan have since insisted the player is a key part of their plans.

The Brazil international has just one year remaining on his current deal but his agent and brother, Roberto de Assis, says an agreement will be in place in the near future.

"We are ready to respect the current contract and then we will talk about an extension," he said. "When we sit down at the table to extend his contract, we will sign a deal which expires June 30, 2014. There won't be any problems. There's no rush - it's only a formality."
