Landon Donovan: Transfer interest

Donovan, who had a successful two-month spell with Premier League Everton in the second half of last season, is expected to move before the transfer window closes next month.

Everton are sure to want to take Dovovan back at Goodison Park, while Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has also declared his interest. Donovan also indicated there had been contact from Italian Serie A clubs.

The forward, who also spent time on loan with German club Bayern Munich, told Reuters after playing in the MLS All-Stars' 5-2 defeat at Manchester United: "We have had transfer interest and we will have some time to think about it and see where it goes. There is interest from a number of teams."

MLS commissioner Don Garber recognised Donovan's contribution to the game in the United States and while he hopes the 28-year-old remains with Los Angeles Galaxy he also understands the player's desire to return to Europe.

"Landon is an incredibly important part of the American soccer movement and to have him lead MLS after performing on the world stage, is extremely valuable," Garber told Reuters. "I am pleased that he renegotiated his deal for several more years and I hope that he will stay here for the rest of his career &(but) it's not my decision, it's Landon's decision and LA Galaxy's decision."
