Lyon coach Claude Puel is convinced there will be no need for a penalty shootout to decide their Champions League semi-final against Bayern Munich.

Lyon will be looking to overturn a 1-0 deficit against Bayern in the second leg at the Stade Gerland. Puel's side showed little attacking intent at the Allianz Arena last week, and that will have to change in the return leg.

"For me we will have to win by two clear goals so we must be sturdy in all areas,'' Puel said. "We must be enterprising, but we must also avoid conceding goals.''

Puel insists he has not spoken with his players about drawing up a list of penalty takers.

"No, we have not studied this scenario, even though it is true that it may happen,'' he said. "There is no list of penalty takers. I do not think the game will end with penalties.''

Central defender Cris looks set to take his place in the team after being in doubt with a knee injury suffered last week, which is good news for the coach as Jeremy Toulalan is suspended following his red card in Munich. Jean-Alain Boumsong could partner Cris after he returned to training at the weekend following three weeks out due to a calf injury.

Bayern have injury concerns of their own in defence with Daniel van Buyten and Martin Demichelis carrying knocks while defensive midfielder Anatoliy Tymoschuk has not made the trip due to illness. Franck Ribery and Danijel Pranjic are also suspended.

"We are preparing our side and we do not look too much at the opposite team,'' Puel added. "We know that if they have injured players, other players take their place and will perform well. We'll see which Bayern will bring. Let's play our game, but not like the first leg.''
