Nerlinger eyes new superstar at Bayern

Bayern Munich director of sport Christian Nerlinger has told his club's fans they can look forward to seeing a new big name in their squad next season, regardless of whether Franck Ribery stays.

Bayern have recruited the likes of Luca Toni, Ribery and Arjen Robben in recent years and Nerlinger says he is constantly scouring the market for further big name signings.

"It is always our intention to bring big names to Munich," he told the Tz newspaper.

Bayern are currently leading the Bundesliga and have reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League in what is promising to be a successful year for the Bavarians. And this, according to Nerlinger, makes it even more likely that Bayern will be able to attract one of the stars of this summer's World Cup to the Bundesliga next season.

"We always have our eyes open and we know that we have a good chance at the moment," he added. "We want quality not quantity, class not mass.

"In Franck and Arjen, we have two extra class players and it is important to get somebody who can decide a game out of nothing."

But Nerlinger is not promising anything at the moment as he admits such players "are not found hanging around on every corner."
