AC Milan were handed a silver lining following David Beckham's injury when it was revealed Alessandro Nesta should be back in action in around a month.
Defender Nesta himself went under the knife on Monday after sustaining a knee injury in last weekend's draw against Roma.
There had been fears he too had played his last game of the Serie A campaign but the prognosis was good.
"Alessandro Nesta underwent surgery in Rome today and will be able to return to training after 30 days,'' read a statement on AC Milan's website.
Coach Leonardo could now have Nesta back to face Sampdoria on April 18.
