The Ligue 1 champions have now taken just two points from their last three games after this stalemate but Montpellier's 1-1 draw with Auxerre at home ensured there was no change at the summit, with the two sides level on points.

In the day's late kick-off, fourth-placed Lyon failed to take advantage of the top three dropping points as they were held to a 1-1 draw at home to St Etienne.

Mevlut Erding's hat-trick condemned his former club Sochaux to a crushing defeat by PSG at the Parc des Princes.

After Guillaume Hoarau set Paris St Germain on their way, Erding struck twice to make it 3-0 by half-time. Ryad Boudebouz cut the deficit from the penalty spot only for Erding to put the game beyond doubt 20 minutes from time.

Le Mans slid closer to the trapdoor to Ligue 2 as Loic Remy gave Nice a vital and deserved win over their fellow strugglers at Leon-Bollee.

The visitors had dominated the first half and continued to enjoy the bulk of the chances after the break. Anthony Le Tallec's header gave them a scare midway through the second half but Remy clinched the points 13 minutes from time to leave the hosts seven points adrift of safety.

Captain Sylvain Marchal's second-half goal was enough to help Lorient maintain their push for a European place with a victory over Lens at Stade de Moustoir.

The win moves Lorient up to seventh in the table while Lens remain 15th, a full 13 points above the drop zone.

Boulogne boosted their survival hopes with just their second away win of the Ligue 1 season at Nancy.

Boulogne had not won on their travels since August but were on course to end their barren run when Laurent Agouazi headed home at the far post after 32 minutes.

Chris Malonga equalised nine minutes later but second-half goals from Matt Moussilou and Alexandre Cuvillier ensured a vital win for the visitors.
