Rangers are seven victories away from the Scottish Premier League title after they came from behind to defeat St Mirren 3-1.

Walter Smith's side, who are now 13 points clear of Celtic, fell behind to a goal from a player on loan from their Glasgow rivals. Graham Carey, netting his first senior goal, silenced the Ibrox crowd by curling in a 30-yard free-kick.

St Mirren's lead lasted just two minutes, Lee McCulloch taking advantage of some hesistant defending to divert a Kevin Thomson free-kick into the goal. McCulloch's second of the game, just 45 seconds into the second half, put Rangers in front before Nacho Novo added a third.

Third-placed Hibernian ended a run of five games without a win with a 1-0 triumph over Kilmarnock, who have now scored three goals in their last 14 away fixtures.

Derek Riordan netted the winner 12 minutes from time, much to the relief of Abdessalam Benjelloun; the 25 year-old Moroccan had earlier missed a penalty for the home side.

Zander Diamond's 76th minute equaliser prevented Aberdeen from sinking to a defeat that would have seen them fall into the relegation mire. They drew 1-1 at Hamilton, striker Flavio Paixao netting the home side's solitary goal.
